Start with WHY – Can this idea be used in the design field?

Can this simple idea (Start with WHY is spread by Simon Sinek) be used in the design field? It MUST! Why is it worth to find your core values when you build your business and growing online presence?

3 fields where the idea can be used:

  1. Your WHY is in the core of your brand. With core values stated, established VISION, and empowering MISSION your value as a service or goods provider is higher.
  2. Your WHY is important to create meaningful solutions for your business, to step back from template websites/social media and put your unique values on top of design decisions.
  3. Your WHY determines the overall culture in your organisation, it is passed down to managers and employees who deal with your customers online and offline.

I find focusing on WHY beneficial to both sides when discussing projects with my clients, here @peardesign. There are no companies repeating the exact core values even if they are in this same market niche. As there is no design to serve all!

Many times the WHY was a great start in the conversations I had with LEO applicants for TOV vouchers. Some of them led to different than initially aimed actions – establishing BRAND VOICE or unifying BRAND LANGUAGE on social media. Starting with WHY has a great impact on design process and deepens the meaning of used solutions. So, Can this idea be used in the design field? Definitely YES!
